BRAD CARTER

FOUNDER & HUNT CONSULTANT

Brad Carter grew up in the heart of Western hunting country — Star Valley, Wyoming — where hunting wasn’t just a tradition, it was a way of life. From a young age, he was in the mountains with his dad, grandpa, and brother, learning what it meant to work hard for every opportunity and value the experience more than the trophy.

In college, Brad relocated to Utah and had to figure out a new set of hunting challenges on his own. Without a mentor system or blueprint, he learned through books, forums, regulations, and hands-on trial. That experience gave him a unique understanding of how overwhelming Western hunting systems can be for both new hunters and those applying out-of-state — and how much clarity matters.

Brad launched HuntAddicts.com in 2009, building it into one of the first comprehensive DIY Western hunting resources online. Over the last 15+ years, he’s helped hundreds of hunters develop strategies, spend preference and bonus points wisely, and find success in the field. He’s also worked directly with outfitters to book hunts, evaluate units, and support guided clients — gaining perspective from both the hunter and outfitter side of the equation.

Today, Brad brings deep expertise in Wyoming, especially western Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Idaho, and beyond. He’s hunted across many Western states, and taken a wide variety of species — including mule deer, elk, antelope, black bear, bighorn sheep, whitetail, and more.

He’s also the founder of Altitude Outdoors, a specialty gear shop that supports serious hunters with the equipment they actually need — and has personally tested most of it. This led to creation of MTN HNTR, a gear manufacturing company that builds hunting gear that's designed for mountain hunters. That real-world gear experience shapes his strategic recommendations for each client, based on how and where they plan to hunt.

“Today's hunting landscape is making it much harder to consistently find good tags, but you don't need to be sitting on the sidelines. But you can't just wait for opportunities to come, you have to have a good plan...That’s what we help people do.”
